A Saudi company has produced a 24-carat gold set weighing 33 kilogrammes worth six million Saudi Riyals (Dh5.88 million).

The set made by the Jeddah-based Taiba for Gold and Jewels Company is believed to be the heaviest in the world.

According to reports in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, 100 jewellery makers needed around one year to complete work on the set that included a necklace, a ring, earrings, and a bangle.

Essam Al Ashrafi, the company’s executive general manager, said that the gold designers wanted to pay tribute to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through an outstandingly creative work in their field.

In 2000, the company made the world’s heaviest gold ring — the Najmat Taiba or Star of Taiba.
